Ernest W. Neal, a native of Calhoun, GA, studied formal portraiture with American portrait painter John Howard Sanden. He also studied in Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL and Washington, D.C. to further develop his skills in airbrush illustration and design, color theory, art restoration and conservation, and photography.

In 1988 he was nominated for the Governor’s Art Excellence Award by former mayor of Atlanta, Sam Massell, and was featured as Artist of the Year in a one-person show at Dalton College in 1989.

Ernest has completed commissions for clients at Universal Studios, CBS, city governments, corporations, as well as individuals throughout the United States and Europe.

Ernest is particularly well known for his photo retouch and restoration.  He works with an international restoration company and maintains an active relationship with several regional galleries restoring fine art and photographs.

Ernest currently displays his work and offers instruction at his studio/gallery prominently located one block north of historic downtown Calhoun, Georgia.
